Blue Heron Reserve
We are proud to hold a conservation easement over the Sandusky County Park District’s 160-acre Blue Heron Reserve. Our conservation easement ensures that this park will be a nature preserve forever.
Connected by a 2.5 mile trail system, the Reserve adjoins a much larger nature preserve that extends to the Sandusky Bay. This park is an excellent place to observe bald eagles, minks, various songbirds, and other wildlife inhabiting the wetlands along the Lake Erie basin. The Reserve also has two springs, one of which is similar to area blue hole springs while the other supplies water to adjoining wetlands and supports a remnant prairie community. The Reserve is also intersected by Pickerel Creek and has 3 second growth woodlots of differing ages. It also features a prairie fen with plants such as Kalm’s Lobelia, Shrubby Cinquefoil, and Grass-of-Parnassus.
Parking is available at 14757 Ravenna Rd, Burton, OH 44021.
