Hammon Woods

Hammon Woods

This preserve contains 172 acres of contiguous woods, including 90 acres of old growth forest. These woods are dominated by native Ohio hardwoods, the eldest of which are approximately 200 years old. Dominant tree species in the preserve include White Oak, Sugar Maple, Red Oak, Tuliptree, and Beech. This woods features one of Richland County’s most robust displays of spring ephemerals, as well as a variety of orchid species.

At our best, these woods represent ancient Ohio with its old trees and rich understory of native plants. Our best is a living museum that is worth permanently protecting for future generations.

This location has designated parking on Benedict Road.
